Parents

It seems that in LA, parents follow one of two extremes. Either they let their children run around crazy, or they are so overprotective that their children feel caged and answer it by breaking out and rebelling. Ok. Maybe its not that black and white, but at the end of the day, find myself watching either the former or the latter. Either parents are letting their tow-year-old child walk around in the street barefoot wearing only a pamper and a dirty t-shirt while they watch from the saftey of the front porch, or they are like my mother, afraid of letting go and unable to admit it so they suffocate you.
Of course she's not doing this on purpose. She just wants the best for me as most mature parents want (mature as apposed to "babies raising babies"). But when you are over 18 years old, you've lived with your mom your entire life and suddenly you're moving out and going out at night, a parent worries and starts to go through withdrawls. You sometimes just want to say, "Mom. I'm 24. I won't be at home forever. Let me go."
